With no long holidays in hand and bored of our hectic work life, we decided to steal a moment for us by spending a day at Novotel. Novotel Kolkata is a wonderful business hotel, near the airport. We reached around 2pm, which is their standard check-in time. The staff was very cordial and helped us with the check-in formalities.

We were staying at the Superior Suite, which is one of the finest rooms in the hotel. The room was equipped with all kinds of luxurious amenities – a king size bed overlooking the main road, two TV sets, sofa, wardrobe, thermostat, microwave, mini bar and others. The washroom was beautiful with a polished bathtub and sliding doors. We were greeted with some chocolates and sweets. We quickly freshened up and moved for lunch.

We had our lunch at the Square where we tried the buffet. The kebabs were well grilled and tasted great. The main course had a lot of options from Chinese and Thai to North Indian and Bengali cuisine. The Chinese dishes were excellent. I also loved the fish paturi. I loved their huge collection of desserts as well.

After lunch we decided to explore the entire property and click some pictures. We discovered the hotel was hosting three marriages that day but there was no impact of this on the service offered to the normal guests. The pool area in the basement is really classy. It is divided into various segments. One can chill by the pool for hours. The rooftop part above the pool offers a spectacular view of the city. This area is perfect for banquets and parties.

It was evening and we were startled with the view from our room. The hotel looked grand as it was well lit. We had our dinner at the Square and the menu was curated by Chef Deepankar Paul. We started with the kebab platter comprising chicken, mutton, fish and prawn kebabs. The kebabs were absolutely delicious. We were then served the special thali where each dish was excellent.

We woke up early morning the other day. The morning view from the room was spectacular. We had the special breakfast spread arranged exclusively for us by Chef Benjamin Lalhmangaiha which had American Breakfast Platter, Dosa, uttapam and others. We really loved the food and hospitality at this place.

Finally, it was time to check-out. With heavy hearts we had to leave our room and the hotel. Novotel Kolkata will always remain as a wonderful memory. The food, the room, the staff and the overall hospitality is unforgettable and unparalleled.
