“It’s better to see something once, than hear about it a thousand times”. Back in Kolkata i had heard so much about this heritage property that i had to tick this place off on my wishlist. This blog is all about the beauty and the grandeur of Elgin Kalimpong!
Kalimpong is a small hilly town located about 2.5 hours from siliguri. It is honestly another beauty of the hills and i liked it more owing to the fact that the town was a quiet one. Usually hilly areas in peak season are extremely crowded, so we chose to travel around August. The weather was just so soothing around this time , we could absolutely roam around freely.

We stepped into Elgin Kalimpong around 12 pm and were greeted very warmly by the staff with a refreshing welcome drink. The hospitality as soon as we reached the place was something that touched my heart. Elgin Kalimpong is a heritage cum luxury property that was bought by Mr. Diamond Oberoi and completely transformed into a beautiful paradise. Elgin Silver Oaks Kalimpong is built on a wide area, has an open garden space along with a cute furry friend. The pet is extremely friendly and made our stay much better.

As we stepped into the property we could see beautiful paintings all over the wall in the lobby and reception area. Carpet clad floors with intricate interiors gave a regal yet luxurious touch to the place. The splendour of this place cannot be honestly put down in a blog — this needs to be experienced. The chandeliers hanging from the walls adorned the central lobby and bar counters just added to the magnificent beauty.
As we crossed the staircase to reach our room in the second floor, the balcony gave a splendid view of the Himalayas. We had chosen a double bed room for us. There are various other options as well and also special arrangements for differently abled guests. This is a pet friendly place as well. Our room was the epitome of luxury and comfort. The room had all the luxurious amenities starting from a bathtub, vanity counter to exclusive Elgin toiletries. The room is extremely spacious, graceful and stylish.

For lunch we went outside to try some local food and came back to enjoy the evening in this beautiful property. The lawn area has a swing and benches to sit comfortably and sip some tea as you see in front of your eyes the evening swallowing the hills. It was a picturesque image right in front of our eyes.

Time flew by and we headed for dinner! We had an amazing dinner with all Chinese delicacies. Starting from the soup to the main course consisting of chowmein, stirred vegetables, chicken honey, paneer and other dishes everything was delectable. We were extremely full with lipsmacking food and their outstanding hospitality at every step made us super content.

Next morning we woke up early to see the beautiful sunrise from our big window overlooking the lawn area. It was an amazing sight and i rushed down to capture some beautiful moments of this place before we left.
In the morning breakfast we had a wide array of dishes to choose from. We went ahead with an entire English Platter and also had aloo parathas to satisfy our Indian apettite. The English Platter had breads, jams, jellies, scones, hams, bacon’s, masala omlette, sunny side up and muffins. After this heavy and satisfying breakfast it was time to bid adieu to this beauty.
Elgin, See you soon! 🌸
