We needed a getaway badly far away from the hustle and bustle of the city, keeping the anxiety of pandemic at bay. Thus we started a short yet serene trip for a day to Ibiza, The Fern Resort. Situated in Amtala about an hour’s drive from the heart of the city, this is a quick yet soul-filling getaway. The 20 acres resort owned by Merlin is a huge lush green property filled with a plethora of indoor and outdoor activities.

The resort is simply stunning with wonderful architecture. There are various kinds of rooms. The pool area was the most attractive part – the depth of the pool is just perfect for kids and adults both. The pool area has oval shaped chairs to click some instaworthy drooling pictures and sitting there simply relaxed our minds. We entered the resort around 12 pm and checked into our room. The room was huge and was equipped with all modern amenities. The bathroom had a huge bathtub as well. The balcony from our room overlooked the boating area of the resort and had ample greenery just in front of it.

We freshned up to take a tour of the property and headed out for lunch thereafter. Our lunch consisted of Corn Cheese Tarts, Hara Bhara Kebabs and Fish Fingers for starters. The main course had Mutton Biryani and Mixed Sauce Pasta. Finally, for desserts we had Coffee Cake, Tutti Frutti and Pineapple Mousse. We loved the food and the hospitality.

After lunch we decided to take a stroll across the huge property and basked in the winter sun. It was time for a brief photo session.

After the nice evening stroll it was time for dinner. They had setup a very beautiful romantic candle light dinner setup for us. The decoration was picture perfect. You can also customise it according to your needs. The warmth and care of the staff was something extremely noteworthy. For dinner we had Kebab Platter, Veg Au Gratin, Grilled Fish in Lemon Butter Sauce and three variants of desserts. The food was undoubtedly delicious. The continental dishes were as good as the North Indian ones. The service and hospitality were impeccable.

During night the property looks surreal and gives a vintage feeling. The lights are usually dim and you can relax by taking a walk or sitting by the pool and can also enjoy the games section. They have set up a giant Christmas tree with decorations in the main entrance area which is specially curated for this time of the year. The fern tree at the entrance of the resort is decorated intricately and in a very charismatic manner. Time flew by so fast at this place as it was beautiful.

The next morning we woke really early to take some good pictures and headed for the delectable breakfast which had juices, tea, coffee, eggs of your choice, idli, sambar, upma, boiled corn, hash brown, baked beans, grilled veggies, alu paratha, peas kachori, jalebi, donuts and a lot more. It was a perfect breakfast before we depart.
