Alluring Pangong !

The sublime colours of Pangong Tso are not only a treat to the eyes but a life changing journey overall. We started our journey from Nubra early in the morning to head towards the most hyped place in our entire trip itinerary. I couldn’t wait to see the beautiful Pangong Lake. The entire road stretch from Nubra to Pangong is in itself a surreal ride with majestic mountains covering the entire journey. To reach Pangong one also has to cross a rough patch of roads which involves taking your car over the boulders, small streams of water and what not! A bumpy but super exciting ride.

Also while on our way to Pangong we stopped at several scenic spots where Subham and I just crossed huge boulders like literally huge to get to the bottom of the river streams and dip our tired feets in the freezing cold water. The view, the moments, the entire journey mattered and not just the destination.

Time flew as we were super engrossed in the beauty and we reached Pangong around late afternoon. The first time when we saw a peak of the mighty lake, our joy practically knew no bounds. The entire stretch of Pangong Tso is magical and people stop by to capture it. After crossing the long stretch you reach the lower part of the lake where all the cottages and tents are there.

We had opted to stay at Polaris Cottage. This place gave the best video of Pangong right from our rooms and was the first cottage in the entire stretch of tents and cottages. We quickly freshened up, had some maggi and chai to head up to the lake as the adrenaline rush was very high. The cottage was very clean and the charge per night for two people, including breakfast and dinner, was just Rs 5000 !! This is definitely the best place to stay in Pangong.

It was super amazing to see the hues of sun playing on the pitch Blue Lake encapuslating the mountains. You could literally feel at the top of the world, sun bids goodbye here around 5 and darkness starts to envelop the place slowly. We made the most of time here and it gets very chilly in the late evenings. Our cottage had a glass exterior hence we could get a 24*7 view of the lake and stars which was absolutely breathtaking.

Dinner is early here as resources are limited and one must not eat too much or not jump around too much because I had acute breathing problems post dinner because I didn’t take ample rest. The night was all about holding this view forever in our hearts because you might not get a chance again!

We left Pangong early next morning since our respective health’s had taken a toll. Inspite of the adversities Pangong is a once in a lifetime experience.

You will never get to see such raw beauty of nature and the silence is almost addictive.
