Kerala!! God’s own country! Indeed this entire state is so breathtakingly beautiful. We travelled with Christopher Holidays, who were our travel partner for the entire trip. We first started with our first two days in Kochi! The entire place is a beautiful town. The first day was all about resting and relaxing as we had reached late evening.

The next day was all about waking up early to head to Fort Kochi and see it’s amazing beach. The entire time that we had spent there seeing the waves slash on the shore was not only beautiful but a peaceful therapy. Kochi is a beautiful place with colonial remnants and amazing architectural structures all around. Then we had headed to St Francis Church which was a quiet and calm place. Next stop on the itinerary was Mattancherry Palace! This place provides insights into the history of Kochi and the kings that the erstwhile state of Kochi had. A beautiful and enriching experience this was !

The next day we headed towards Munnar and saw the beautiful coffee, tea plantations on our way. The roads dwindling and leading us into the lap of mountains was a once in a kind of experience. On our way we saw two beautiful waterfalls – Cheeyappara and Valara! They both were super beautiful and had us stare in awe. A very nice spot to take some quick pictures. The next stop was a huge local organic farm which we explored and saw all kinds of plants having herbal uses and used in ayurvedic treatments. We bought quite a whooping number of them for various purposes and it was a superb thing to see, how even the smallest of ailments can be cured by nature. Next up was something super adventurous that I had done. It had started drizzling on our way and I decided to try out the famous Bali Swing at a local fun park on our way to Munnar. Oh boy, the entire experience of this was so thrilling, this took me on top of the world. A highly recommended once in a lifetime kinda experience. The weather of Munnar is super pleasant and it rains a lot during the evening’s. We reached late afternoon and had explored the local markets, to get our hands on some spices, coffee, tea etc.

The next day was all about sightseeing in Munnar. We started off with rose garden and there are thousands of beautiful flowers to just look at here the most significant being a variety of roses. Up next was the most beautiful and slightly offbeat spot in Munnar! The Kundala lake which was adjacent to the Kundala Dam! We rode into this cute small coracles which are round boats and it moves in a circular motion in the waters, the breathtakingly surreal views of the crystal clear Lake surrounded by mountains and such a pleasant weather was an absolute bliss. Also there were very few tourists so even better! Next we headed to Matupetty Dam which had a huge Lake adjacent to it. A very picturesque spot indeed. On our way back to the main town of Munnar we also checked into some coffee plantations and the view of this was just too pretty! An interesting thing happened on our way back we saw two cute wide elephants out in the open!! We learned that they sometimes come on the road mostly in the night, but i guess they had just come to wave us and we were extremely lucky! What a day, we came back to get ready for next day’s adventure!

The next day was all about travelling 4 hrs to reach Thekkady! The entire road was covered with thick dense forests on both the sides and the more we reached closer to Thekkady, the denser it got. We stayed at a beautiful place that overlooked the beautiful mountains and the exquisite Periyar Forest. After checking in, in the evening we went to watch a local Kathakali performance and did some local spices shopping. The day ended soon as we were tired. The entire night was adventurous though as our room was right in the middle of the forest and we heard screeching noises the entire night! What an adventure this was. Next morning we waked up early to go to Periyar Tiger Reserve. The beauty of the Periyar river had us just stare and admire! We took a bus to reach the area from where the steamer boats left, it was all under the state government. The entire jungle safari was beautiful to say the least it was actually soul satisfying. We saw sambar deer and bison in this beautiful safari. Also various types of birds and i had never done such an intense jungle safari before, so this just blew my mind!

The next day was all about travelling to Kumarokom. We could see the beautiful backwaters and our resort had a large pool directly giving us the view of backwaters. We did a short tour of the backwaters in the evening to witness the beautiful sunset. The water waves travel backwards and that is the real beauty. This place is all about just sitting and absorbing nature’s aura.

Next day we headed to Alleppey to witness the beautiful houseboat experience as we sailed through the mighty backwaters, surrounded by trees on both sides this is a visual treat! We did a houseboat trip organised by Christopher Holidays, which was amazing.

We then had to head towards Poovar where we were staying for the last 2 days in Kerala. We stopped at Kovalam on our way to see the beautiful beach and it was super over crowded this we decided to call it a day and come back the next day. Poovar has a beautiful beach which is the golden beach and it was right in front of our hotel. There is a surreal estaury where birds flock the whole day and it is like a dot in the infinity! We went there early in the morning to see the gushing of waves and silence of nature. This is a super pretty and yes offbeat place. The very same day we decided to go to Kovalam beach and there I saw the most beautiful sunset of my life till now! I cannot describe the hues of golden and pink the sky took while the sun quietly bid adieu to us. We literally didn’t talk to each for a very long time as we just wanted to soak in every aspect of it.

The long 10 days trip came to an end but while coming back we realised it wasn’t that long as we loved every bit of it. The wonderful time that we had with Christopher Holiday’s was amazing. We saw the surreal beauty of Kerala and discovered the true beauty of the state. We are coming back to you soon, Kerala!
